About Hawthorne Dental
Dr. Keith Watson - Dentist, Owner
Dr. Keith Watson received his Bachelor’s Degree in Science from Penn State University before graduating from the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry in 1998.
Dr. Watson remains committed to continuing education, and he has taken advanced courses in comprehensive care from Spear Education, occlusion and function from the Academy of General Dentistry, and interdisciplinary studies from the Seattle Study Club. He is a member of the American Dental Association, Oregon Dental Association, and Multnomah County Dental Society.
Dr. Watson is passionate about offering comprehensive care that emphasizes prevention. When treatment is needed, he provides patients with conservative and minimally-invasive dentistry to preserve as much tooth structure as possible. He has also been dedicated to green dentistry and environmentally friendly practices since he started his practice in Portland.
The doctor is originally from the northeast, but he moved to Portland in 2003 after hearing the call of the Pacific Northwest. He appreciates all the city has to offer including the beautiful green spaces and neighborhoods. Dr. Watson enjoys spending time with his wife, Angela, in addition to playing the bass guitar, listening to music, traveling, and having fun outdoors. He also volunteers with Medical Teams International and the Creston School, providing free dental care for at-risk populations in the Portland metro area.
Jayme Hauck, RDH - Dental Hygienist
As a 2013 summa cum laude graduate from Portland Community College's Dental Hygiene Program, Jayme is acquainted with the latest in dental hygiene theory and technology. She has strengthened her skills by serving as a part time dental hygiene instructor at PCC and through annual continuing education. Jayme uses her gentle, compassionate approach and sense of humor to set patients at ease, and then uses her black-belt Karate skills to defeat the evil forces of plaque and decay!
Jayme grew up on a farm in the Willamette Valley, where she fell in love with horses, cats, and art, eventually earning a Fine Arts degree at Oregon State. She has studied abroad in Japan and Italy and continues to be fascinated with art, especially portraiture and Japanese printmaking. She lives in Southeast Portland with her wife, Rachel, and their three-legged cat, Foo.
Rachele Stifle, RDH - Dental Hygienist
Rachele received her Associates Degree in Dental Hygiene from Lane Community College in Eugene in 2003. After graduating with honors, she split her time between a small private practice and a corporate practice where she learned many different approaches to patient care. Rachele is empathetic and compassionate with patients who have dental anxiety and enjoys helping them overcome their fears and gain a sense of empowerment. She is committed to ongoing learning so that she can recommend the most effective therapies for her patients. She has also volunteered with Medical Team International's mobile dental clinic to serve populations who otherwise would not have access to care.
Rachele grew up in Portland and loves the diversity the city offers. She loves to travel and was able to visit many places around the world before settling down with her partner Ben and having their two daughters Ciella (10) and Shaylen (8), and more recently their son Connor who just turned 1. Currently she is working on recovering from an injury and getting back into running and yoga.
Angela Watson - Office Manager
Angela joined the practice as Office Manager in 2015. After working in the training and development field for many years, she is enjoying the opportunity to support the team, build relationships with patients, and help keep the practice running smoothly. When she’s not at the office, Angela tries to spend as much time as possible outdoors, soaking up the beauty of the Pacific Northwest on foot or by bike.
Green Dentistry - Caring for Our Neighbors and the EnvironmentSince Dr. Watson started his practice in 2005, he has been committed to green dentistry, and each year he and his team expand their repertoire of environmentally friendly practices.
Here is a sampling of what we do:
- To protect our water supply, all of the metals we remove from old restorations are captured in our filters before entering the water system and then saved for environmentally appropriate disposal.
- To reduce energy consumption, we use compact fluorescent light bulbs throughout the office, and all non-essential equipment is turned off each night.
- To support renewable energy, we’ve signed up for PGE’s Green Source plan, which ensures that the electricity powering our office comes from renewable sources such as wind and biomass.
- To reduce waste, we look for creative ways to reuse office products, and purchase recycled products as often as possible.
- To reduce his carbon footprint, Dr. Watson commutes either by scooter or electric car.
When you’re in for your next visit, rest assured that we’re not only going to deliver great personalized care, but we’re also doing our part for the environment.
